Pool Water Features and Waterfalls in League City, TX
League City Pool Resurfacing installs pool water features and waterfalls in League City, Texas: sheet waterfalls and rain effects set in the bond beam or a raised wall, deck jets, bubblers, and the plumbing, filtration and finish work behind them. The International Swimming Pool and Spa Code even counts a vanishing edge, where water flows over a pool wall into a catch basin, as a water-feature detail.

Pool waterfalls and sheer descents: mounting, flow and height
Where a waterfall mounts
Pentair's installation guide gives a waterfall two homes: the bond beam, set just over the tile line, or a raised wall that sits on top of the bond beam. It wants three things settled first: the thickness of the wall, the thickness of whatever tile or stone faces it, and how heavy the covering concrete or stone will be. Installation begins with a notch cut in the bond beam and a level board fastened to the pool wall, which serves as both a guide and a dam for the mortar bed the unit is set in, flush with that board. Mortar has to fill the space under the lip completely, or the coping will bend the waterfall out of shape, and the discharge edge clears the tile line by 3/4 inch.
Pentair also wants the water supply line and baffle held up by support of their own rather than hanging off the lip, where joints can fail and leak, and a curved unit can't be trimmed on site; it has to be cut at the factory.
Flow and plumbing
For flow, Pentair plans on approximately 15 gallons a minute for each foot of waterfall length, or 45 gallons a minute for a 3-foot unit; 10 gallons a minute per foot will run it, though perhaps without the look you wanted. Every waterfall gets a flow control valve downstream of the filter and 2-inch plumbing of its own, and a variable-speed pump is Pentair's recommendation.
Sheet and rain heights
Pentair's sheet effect, the sheer descent, is a thin curtain of water, easily disturbed by wind and narrower at the bottom than at the top. Mounted higher than 3 feet, the sheet begins to come apart and gives off an annoying buffeting sound, so 3 feet is its recommended top for sheet effects, and 6 feet for rain effects.

Deck jets
Pentair builds its Deck Jet to be poured in place, either in a concrete deck or in the pool's gunite sidewall. The body is wired to the rebar through holes in its flange so the pour can't shift it, and a shield plug, set level with the final surface, stays in place until the decking work is done. With more than one jet, Pentair puts a PVC ball valve on each and feeds them filtered water: their flow and pressure are so low that even differences in pipe length show up in the stream.
Bubblers
For its ColorVision bubbler, Pentair calls for a water depth between 2 and 12 inches, a spacing of 3 feet or more from any wall or other bubbler, and a finish-flush mount in a niche formed in the gunite, fed by a 1-1/2-inch water line with 1-inch electrical conduit. Plume height changes with depth, nozzle size and flow rate, and Pentair treats its own plume chart as a guide only, because plumbing and water conditions vary. That depth window takes in the 6 to 9 inches a furniture maker gives for a typical sun shelf; see tanning ledges and beach entries.

Waterfall walls and vanishing edges: finish and waterproofing
Water on one side, air on the other
A raised feature wall or a vanishing edge has pool water pressing on one face and open air drying the other. The American Shotcrete Association puts negative-edge pool walls in that group and says they need to be made essentially watertight, since water moving steadily one way through the concrete leaches out calcium and, over time, can seriously deteriorate the wall. Salts that collect between the concrete and its tile or coating, sub-efflorescence in the Association's term, can break down the bond and lift the covering off, and pool vanishing edges are among the structures it calls especially vulnerable. To stop the water moving, it lists a waterproof membrane, pozzolan or polymer admixtures, a lower water-to-cement ratio, integral waterproofing, and densifiers sprayed on or brushed in as a slurry.
Finish above the waterline
SGM lists waterfalls, fountains and negative-edge pools among the places its Diamond Brite goes, and warns that the part above the water dries to a different look from the plaster below and may show some check cracking; water curing of the exposed parts for 7 to 28 days lessens the cracking. Above the water the finish must also be free of trowel blisters, which fill with water and can delaminate in a freeze, and a waterline ring will form that needs regular maintenance.
White bloom on a feature wall
Fresh bloom, the white efflorescence that appears on such walls, is easiest to deal with early: the Association says a few days' growth will often scrub off with water and a bristle brush, while a deposit left to harden and densify can be very hard to get off. It warns against sealing an efflorescing surface with paints, sealers or coatings that don't breathe, because moisture and salt trapped behind them can spall or delaminate the coating along with the top layer of concrete. Water features in League City: HOA limits, trades and permits
Some League City HOAs write water features into their rules. Brittany Lakes' architectural guidelines keep slides, waterfalls and other pool accessories to 6 feet and bar them from showing above the fence, so check your own HOA's limits before a raised wall or rock feature is designed. Public features are in the City's own plans too: its spring 2025 renovation of the Hometown Heroes pool refinished the splash pad features along with the new plaster and deck coating.
Water features add plumbing, and lit ones add wiring. For electrical work the code points to NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code, or to the International Residential Code, and for makeup and drain lines to the International Plumbing Code. In League City the electrical and plumbing trades each file their own sub-trade permit on a pool project, through a licensed tradesman registered with the City. No City page says whether a feature added to an existing pool needs a permit of its own, so ask the Building Department first.
A feature can be one part of a larger pool remodeling project, alongside new finishes or spa additions. Nearby, we also take on pool water features in Pearland.

Can I add a waterfall to my existing pool?
Yes. Pentair's own steps begin with a notch in the existing bond beam, then a mortar bed for the unit and full support under its lip so the coping can't distort it, and a Houston builder's renovation page counts water features among the extras that change a renovation's price. What has to be checked is the equipment: the pump and filter must deliver clean water at Pentair's figure of roughly 15 gallons a minute for each foot of waterfall.
How much does a pool waterfall cost?
Typical Houston-area prices for 2026 put waterfalls or rock features at $4,000 to $15,000 or more when they are built with a new pool. National figures for 2025 put a pool waterfall at $2,000 to $8,800 with installation. Both are published figures, not quotes from League City Pool Resurfacing; a price for your own pool comes free at the estimate.
How much do deck jets and bubblers cost?
Published 2026 prices put deck jets or laminar streams at $800 to $2,000 each. For bubblers, a Dallas–Fort Worth builder's 2026 guide prices them at $1,000 to $3,000 apiece with the plumbing, pump and electrical work included, plus $200 to $500 a year for bubbler and jet upkeep such as pump checks, nozzle cleaning and seal replacement. No Houston-area bubbler price was found.
Can a pool waterfall run during a drought in League City?
The City's drought plan names water features in Stage 3, where the City may shut off interactive features such as water sprays, dancing jets, waterfalls and splash pads that are maintained for public recreation; existing pools may add water to hold their level then, but may not be drained and refilled. In Stage 4, using water to fill, refill or add to any pool is a prohibited non-essential use. No stage had been announced on the official pages read on October 4, 2026; ask the City which one applies now.
What filter does a pool waterfall need?
Pentair calls for a cartridge filter of 20 microns or finer to feed its waterfalls, and says not to use a DE or sand filter, because unfiltered water can carry debris into the waterfall and disrupt the flow, and the waterfall can't be cleaned. It recommends filtered water for its deck jets as well.
